Team Performance Evolution

Self-organising teams are at the heart of the success of Agile approaches - however we often fail to fully empower and support the growth of teams as they adopt, adapt, and accelerate their agile team delivery practices.

Agile metrics and measures can get a lot of attention as teams evolve. Some of this attention is progressive (e.g. Team health, psychological safety, value delivery etc.) and some of this attention is controlling / negative (e.g. Micro management, individual review etc). Teams need to be empowered to shape what they need in context to their current evolutionary status.

This session introduces a model team can use to develop a set of objective and subjective metrics that bring the team together and that supports their long term sustainable pace. The approach is ‘For the team, by the team’ rather than a management control approach. The core of the Team Traits section is focused on the way the team develops psychological safety, a learning culture, and overall resilience.

During this session we will look at four areas of focus through which team performance can evolve and accelerate teams towards the delivery of real business impact :-

> Team Traits - The subjective measures that focus on behaviours
> Team Measures - The objective measures that matter to the team
> Business Agility Measures - The operational changes required to create the right environment
> Business Impact - The desired outcomes from the team performance.

Each of the sections builds together to provide a self-organising team with an evolutionary framework that they can apply in a wide variety of circumstances. The aim is to empower teams to choose and track the appropriate measures that will accelerate them forwards as a team.
