Black Box No More: A Live Toolkit for Debugging gRPC
Your gRPC service returns a cryptic UNAVAILABLE or INTERNAL error. The logs are silent, metrics look fine, and curl is useless. It’s the moment every gRPC developer dreads. When things go wrong, gRPC feels like a black box. This session gives you the tools to break it wide open.
In this live, hands-on session, we'll take a healthy polyglot app (Go server, Python client) and introduce realistic bugs that traditional monitoring misses. Then, using a powerful open-source toolkit, we will find the root cause in seconds.
You will leave with a practical toolkit to:
1. Inspect live gRPC traffic for corrupted headers or messages.
2. Use reflection and grpcurl for discovery and live testing.
3. Leverage interceptors to create a “dynamic debugging” mode in production.
