Node.js After the AI Shift: Building Tools Developers Can Trust
AI is already part of the developer stack. It shows up in editors, CLIs, code review, testing workflows, documentation, support tools, and the internal systems teams use to ship software. For Node.js developers, the question is no longer whether AI belongs in the product or workflow. The question is how to build with it in ways that are useful, understandable, and safe enough for real teams.
In this talk, Andrea will break down AI features in practical Node.js terms: inputs, context, tool calls, guardrails, evaluation, and developer experience. We’ll look at how to design AI systems that connect models to real application logic, including when to use agents, where human review still matters, and how to avoid common failure modes like weak context boundaries, brittle tool calls, hidden assumptions, and over-trusting generated output.
Attendees will leave with a grounded mental model for building AI-powered developer tools and application features with Node.js, plus patterns they can bring back to their own teams.
