Post to Payment: Connecting Marketing Data with MCP

Your social platforms report attention, your website analytics report visits, your calendar reports bookings, and your payment processor reports money. Understanding how those records connect takes work between the tools.

I built PostTrace to do that work. In this session, marketing operators and technical builders will examine how content pipeline records, social performance, website activity, bookings, and payments fit together. We will follow an illustrative journey from a tagged post to a booking, then examine what happens when the payment cannot be linked back to that journey. The example shows what the evidence supports and exactly where it runs out.

The session also covers making that information available inside Claude or ChatGPT through a Model Context Protocol (MCP) connector. We will examine safeguards for preserving metric definitions, exposing missing data, and refusing unsupported comparisons. A missing connection must remain visible rather than become a reported zero.

Attendees will leave with a method for mapping their own data flow, checking the identifiers required at each handoff, and deciding what an AI assistant can responsibly conclude from the available records.

After this session, attendees will be able to:

1. Sketch the path from a social post through website activity, a booking, and a payment, identifying the source of each record.
2. Identify the information each handoff needs and locate where a missing identifier breaks the attribution trail.
3. Define connector response rules that preserve metric meaning, distinguish missing data from zero, and flag unsupported conclusions.

Audience: Marketing operations teams, analytics practitioners, technical founders, and developers connecting business data to AI assistants.

Level: Intermediate. Familiarity with tagged links and basic analytics is helpful.

Preferred duration: 45-minute session. A 20-minute condensed version is available, focused on one journey and its failure points.
