GitOps at Scale using FluxCD
As modern infrastructure grows increasingly complex, GitOps has emerged as a powerful paradigm for managing Kubernetes environments declaratively and securely. In this talk, I’ll walk through how our team runs GitOps at scale using FluxCD, sharing lessons learned from deploying and operating production workloads across multiple clusters.
We’ll begin by exploring the core principles of GitOps and how FluxCD enables continuous reconciliation between Git and Kubernetes. I’ll showcase how we’ve architected our GitOps pipelines to support multi-tenant environments, implemented automated synchronization strategies, and customized deployment flows using Helm and Kustomize—all while maintaining high availability and security.
Drawing from our production experience, I’ll highlight how we’ve tackled challenges such as scaling FluxCD controllers, managing secrets with Sealed Secrets, and optimizing polling intervals to reduce load on container registries. I’ll also share how we transitioned from Flux v1 to v2, the architectural improvements it brought, and how we integrated it with CI/CD systems like Azure Pipelines and GitHub Actions for seamless delivery.
Whether you're just starting with GitOps or looking to scale your existing setup, this session will provide practical insights, architecture patterns, and operational tips to help you run GitOps reliably in production.
