Building a Remote Friendly Culture

While everyone has been affected by the SARS-CoVID-19 crisis, those of us privileged to continue working from home find ourselves increasing stressed due to a lack of interpersonal contact. Our "social grooming" habits of old – getting a coffee with colleagues, chatting in the hallway -- have all but ended. This jeopardizes team cohesion, and while many teams respond by calling for more meetings, that doesn't leave enough time to get work done. What's a developer to do?

Drawing on the works of British anthropologist Robin Dunbar and speaking from their own experiences over the past 15 years in open source communities, Aeva will present a framework for modeling team and interpersonal dynamics in any social group adapting to the new #StayHomeSaveLives normal.

Whether you’re new to tech, new to working from home, or a veteran of both - if you're feeling stressed out working from home, or just looking for tips for your teammates, this talk might have something you can use.
