Architecting for Uncertainty: Patterns for Sovereign Operations in Emerging Markets
Building sovereign clouds in the EU is challenging, but engineering for the emerging markets in the Middle East requires a fundamentally different approach where data laws are the primary source of instability. In this session, Ahmad and Majd present a technical blueprint for navigating a landscape where data classification mandates evolve rapidly and cross-border failover is often legally impossible. We will demonstrate extendable sovereignty architectural patterns which decouple compliance from application logic, allowing teams to adapt to new regulations without a refactor. We dive into specific implementations, including Single-Country High Availability strategies that ensure resilience within strict jurisdictional boundaries, and solving data gravity by running local AI inference with KServe to meet evolving residency requirements. Attendees will explore the use of Kyverno to enforce multi-jurisdiction compliance, proving that code must be as agile as the laws that govern it.
