AI Saved Time. But Did It Create Value?

Organizations are investing in Microsoft 365 Copilot, Power Automate, AI agents, and other forms of automation with the expectation that people will become more efficient, more productive, and capable of doing more with less. Usage increases, employees report saving time, and dashboards show growing activity.

Then leadership asks the harder question: What actually became better?

Efficiency, productivity, and business value are often treated as interchangeable, even when the organization has not clearly defined what any of them should mean.

In this interactive, case-based workshop, we will explore the gap between AI activity and organizational value. Attendees will learn how to distinguish access, usage, adoption, behavior change, operational outcomes, and business impact. We will examine where AI-generated capacity goes, whether organizations are measuring the right things, and why increased activity does not necessarily mean that people or processes have become more productive.

Using a realistic Microsoft 365 scenario, we will work through how organizations can define meaningful outcomes, identify where value is gained or lost, assign realistic ownership, and measure more than licenses, prompts, workflows, and estimated hours saved. Attendees will leave with an AI Value Conversion framework and practical questions for determining whether AI and automation are merely helping people do more or meaningfully improving how work gets done.
