Session
How decisions really get made: Health policy, governance, and equity
Boards, budgets, and votes, from someone who has cast them. Dr. Allison Alimayu served a six-year term as an elected member of the Nevada Board of Regents, including as vice chair and as chair of its Audit and Compliance Committee, and has served on state and federal boards and commissions since 2010. She also ran for US Congress and advised presidential campaigns on health and education policy.
This session opens the door to the boardroom. Dr. Alimayu shows how agendas are set, how money moves, and where the real decisions happen long before a public vote. Then she shows what it takes to make equity more than a line in a strategic plan: the questions to ask, the data to demand, and the habits that hold leaders accountable.
The session is tailored to each audience, from trustees and agency leaders to advocates and first-time candidates.
Formats: keynote, panel, moderated conversation, or board training. Length: 30 to 60 minutes, adaptable. Audience: public agencies, boards and trustees, foundations, associations, and civic and political events. Available in person across the Americas, Europe, Africa, and Asia, or virtually.
