Finding a Niche in Open Source Contributions

Come for the code, stay for the community. But what does that really mean?

Not everyone who works on open source projects is a Senior Developer or even a coder. Code is very important and so are all the other parts.

How did my previous life experiences as a Volkswagen mechanic, mother, hospice nurse, and Sunday school teacher prepare me for my role in open source?

Through this presentation, I’ll weave my previous life experiences into my journey in working with open-source. Learn how the secret to contributing can be in our triumphs as well as our failures. Self-compassion and optimism allow us to take risks which leads to confidence and experience, which, in turn, leads to more contributions.
