How Can Java Applications Leverage Ahead-of-Time Caching
Starting with JDK 24, Project Leyden features moved from OpenJDK innovations into mainstream Java frameworks. Spring Boot, Quarkus, Helidon, and others adopted ahead-of-time caching, integrated it into their lifecycle, and published benchmarks that demonstrate substantial improvements. But those numbers also raise an important question: how can your applications further benefit from these optimizations?
This session starts by exploring the building blocks provided by Project Leyden: what the JVM can move ahead of time, how AOT caches are created and consumed, and how cached class loading, linking, profiling, and application state can reduce startup and warmup work. We will then move up the stack to see how Java frameworks build on these capabilities with their own AOT processing, packaging models, training strategies, and developer tooling.
By the end of this session, you will understand how AOT caching can be applied effectively to real Java applications and what you need to consider when adopting it.
