AI and the End of Coding as We Know It?

I’ve been writing code for four decades—long enough to witness the tech industry repeatedly try to reinvent how software is built. Some of those attempts were bold, some overhyped, and most faded away, leaving the developer’s role fundamentally intact. Today, AI is raising a bigger question than ever before: could it finally succeed in transforming, or even replacing, the craft of programming? In this talk, I’ll share lessons from history, insights from the present, and a critical look at what might be ahead, inviting you to explore whether we’re facing a new golden age for developers… or the sunset of our profession.
