Pods Under Pressure: Understanding PSI for K8s
The PSI feature of the Linux kernel identifies and quantifies the disruptions caused by resource crunches and their time impact on complex workloads or even entire systems.
As a beta feature, Kubernetes 1.34 lets you configure the kubelet to collect PSI metrics for CPU, memory, and I/O usage. The information is collected at node, pod and container level.
Let's dive into this new feature and see how it helps us fine tune Kubernetes for optimal performance and cost.
