At skydio, we tackled the complexity of Kubernetes deployments by creating rules_deployment, a powerful set of Bazel rules designed to streamline GitOps workflows. Leveraging tools like Octopilot, our rules automatically transform Kubernetes configuration files (YAML or Jsonnet) into actionable GitOps pull requests.

In this talk, we'll explore how we integrated these Bazel rules into a Buildkite pipeline to provide seamless deployment automation. We'll demonstrate how executing a single Bazel command can trigger the generation of pull requests, ensure consistent deployment patterns, and monitor deployments through Argo CD synchronization.
