Best Practices for Sharing Power BI Content with External Users

Many organizations need to share reports and semantic models with people outside their organization. This could be a vendor needing to see product inventory, a customer checking their orders, or a consultant assisting with development. What these scenarios have in common is that the recipients are outside your tenant and need access in some way. Should you create an internal user for them, register them as external users in your tenant, or perhaps create an embedded solution? There are multiple ways to achieve similar results, but each method has its pros and cons.

In this session, we will cover typical scenarios for sharing semantic models and reports with external users. We will explore different methods to grant access, considering ease of use, maintenance, and security and compliance perspectives.

By the end of the session, the audience will have a clear understanding of the available options for sharing semantic models and reports with external users, along with the pros and cons of each method. This will enable them to make informed decisions on the best approach for their organization
