Modeling and reporting on Fabric audit data

The importance of monitoring has never been grater then now with Fabric getting more and more adoption. Fetching the monitoring data is getting simpler and simpler with open source solutions such as FUAM, Sempy or Power BI and Fabric monitoring templates from Just Blindbæk.

But getting the data out is just the first step. Now you need to make the data work for you. In this session we will first look at the common scenarios you might want to report on when working with Fabric audit data. This could be for audit purposes, monitoring the implementation or to allow content owners to understand the usage of their items. Then we look at the common challenges in modeling the data. A lot of the data has many-to-many relationships and this can make it very hard to model and report from. We´ll talk about different reporting scenarios such as fixed reports for a specific purpose or modeling for ad-hoc data exploration. We´ll then go into the details with concrete modeling proposal which work in different scenarios.

At the end of the session the attendees will walk away with good understanding of the challenges with modeling Fabric audit data, different modeling scenarios and concrete advice on how to model and report on the data.
