Take back Control: decision makin in the age of AI!

This session puts forward a simple, provocative thesis: the more AI takes over the execution of tasks, the more crucial human judgment becomes. To reach a new level of performance, we must develop new capabilities and redesign our collaboration so that AI becomes a powerful execution engine while humans remain the architects of meaningful decisions and experiments.

Performance in the age of AI requires that we supercharge our way of working. More difficult decisions, quicker experiments, faster learning – all of this in a world that is more volatile and ambiguous than ever. Humans must become more than just “people in the loop” for AI agents that talk and work with one another with little supervision. We need to become architects of meaningful decisions, guardians of ethics, and designers of organizational learning loops. If we treat agile only as a delivery method, agility may feel “dead” – but a more decision-focused, AI-aware agility is already emerging.

In this talk, I will share simple models for when to involve AI or people (or both), real examples from agile teams, and practical patterns leaders can use to keep their teams on sunny-side of technological disruption.

How can we ...

Preserve human decision authority while using AI for execution?

Invest in developing decision‑making capabilities instead of assuming judgment comes naturally? Embrace iterative, collaborative approaches instead of extensive upfront planning?

Treat AI as a capability amplifier, not a replacement for human labor?

Maintain psychological safety and openness to learning as technology and business models evolve?
