Vibe Coding: Building Microsoft Fabric Solutions with AI (and Surviving the Results)

Watch ChatGPT build a Microsoft Fabric solution live and see what goes wrong. Learn how to experiment safely with AI-assisted development without sacrificing design discipline or data integrity.

“Vibe coding” is the art of staying in creative flow while letting AI generate your code, structure, and ideas. It’s fast, fun, and occasionally catastrophic. In this live 60-minute session, we’ll build an end-to-end Microsoft Fabric solution using only ChatGPT prompts, without no prewritten code, no safety net.

You’ll watch AI design the architecture, load raw data into OneLake, create transformations, generate a semantic model, and even produce DAX measures. The results will be impressive, sometimes horrifying, sometimes just wrong. Along the way, we’ll explore what AI gets right (speed, syntax, ideation) and what it misses (context, governance, data meaning).

Then we’ll deconstruct the mess together. You’ll see how a human architect would fix the fragile AI-built platform: enforcing naming standards, adding quality checks, securing data, and managing cost and performance. The goal isn’t to mock AI, it’s to show how to use it responsibly, creatively, and critically.

You’ll leave inspired to experiment, but grounded in reality: AI can build something that looks like a data platform. Only you can make it work like one.

By the end of this session, attendees will be able to:
• Use ChatGPT effectively as a co-pilot in Microsoft Fabric for rapid prototyping.
• Identify the architectural and governance risks of AI-generated code.
• Convert AI-generated scaffolding into maintainable, production-grade Fabric solutions.
• Recognize when “vibe coding” is a creative tool and when it’s a professional liability.

Target Audience:
Data engineers, analytics engineers, and Power BI professionals who work hands-on with Microsoft Fabric and want to understand how AI fits into real development workflows.

Level 200

Live 45-minute demo plus 10 min discussion/Q&A. Runs well as 60 min slot.
Uses ChatGPT for all code generation, I can pre-record demo segments as fallback.
Can adjust complexity (intro <> advanced) depending on conference balance.
