Session
Individuals, Interactions, and ZOMBIES! (Building Chaos-Ready Teams)
Pulling otherwise lively innovators out of a shambling, mumbling, sluggish funk? Meetings leave everyone feeling dead inside? Everyone's creative thinking in a state of utter decay?
Want a high performing, resilient team ready to pivot (even in chaos)?
Together, we'll explore practices, concepts, and skills to resurrect creativity, strengthen team cohesion without sacrificing personality, and prepare to tackle inevitable obstacles ahead (without losing our brains in the process).
We'll discuss techniques and discernment to balance between building serious trust and serious delivery skills without taking ourselves too seriously in the process. You'll learn how to leverage the power of play, connection, containers for collaboration, and humor paired with honing critical skills to bring life and trust back into your teams.
(As an example, we'll cover how I used the zombie apocalypse to teach story mapping, helping my team up their prioritization game while solidifying as a collaborative team!)
Is this necromancy? Not quite, but you can strengthen team connection and commitment, catalyze valuable interaction, prep for (and sometimes prevent) chaotic challenges, and even (re)humanize agility. One engaging experience at a time.
First public delivery of this session was at Agile Midwest 2018 Open Space, with multiple sessions at Open Space conferences since.
The needs for setup are low-tech but require a space in which folks are able to cluster for conversations and movement.
