Hosting made simple: Introducing a Ceph‑Bucket Web‑Hosting Operator for Rook

Deploying buckets in Rook is easy, but using those buckets to host web apps or websites is not as straightforward as it should be. For example, compared to the Rook/Ceph experience, hosting a website on an AWS S3 bucket or a GCP bucket is much more simple and straightforward.
In this talk, I’ll demonstrate my pet project: an operator that handles all the complications of hosting websites through a bucket in Rook/Ceph on Kubernetes or OpenShift. It manages the bucket-to-site mapping and automates tasks such as deploying a bucket and exposing it as a hosting endpoint with TLS, DNS, and ingress; all through a simple CRD.
Why should you, as a developer or Ceph user, care about this talk?
By adding this operator to your cluster, you can achieve a workflow similar to S3—upload your site to the bucket, and it’s live.

This talk will cover the design, implementation, UX, and live demos—showing how to unlock Ceph’s hosting potential through Kubernetes-native tools.
