Simplifying the Management of Egress Traffic with EgressGateway(on Kubernetes)
As cloud services become more prevalent on Kubernetes, network traffic within clusters becomes increasingly complex and challenging to manage without expertise. To address these issues, EgressGateway offers an open-source solution for managing and optimizing Egress traffic in Kubernetes clusters.
EgressGateway is a lightweight Egress gateway implemented at the L3 network level. It can control the traffic between Pods and external cluster services by delivering different policies through CRDs. It supports older kernel versions and is compatible with various CNIs such as Calico and Flannel.
One of EgressGateway’s most notable features is EgressIP, which simplifies IP management by assigning static IP addresses for cluster egress traffic control. This feature avoids potential issues with dynamic IPs while still meeting specific regulatory requirements. With the help of EgressIP, network administrators can quickly disconnect attack sources upon detecting security risks.
