The barrier to our utmost wellbeing lies in the manner in which we breath or don't breath. The specific way that you breath will affect you on a cellular level. This affects your nervous system, cardiovascular system as well as physical, mental and spiritual health. Breathwork is a practice that involves conscious, controlled breathing techniques. By changing the way we breathe, we can positively affect our bodies on a molecular, cellular and even genetic level, improving our immune system, reducing inflammation, and lowering our risk for chronic diseases. It even helps with reducing symptoms of asthma. You see, when you breathe in, you're not just inhaling air - you're inhaling life-giving oxygen that feeds every cell in your body. And when you breathe out, you're not just exhaling carbon dioxide - you're also releasing stress, tension, and all the other crap that's been weighing you down. By regulating our breath to bring more oxygen into our bodies, as well as activating our autonomic nervous system, to help us to relax and de-stress, we are also actually healing ourselves.
