Git Worktrees: Stop Re-Cloning Your Repo Every Time ...
Git worktrees have been around since Git 2.5, yet somehow many of us are still cloning repositories into folders called `project-2` and `fix-xyz`. Maybe you're aware of them, but aren't entirely sure how they work, maybe you've never heard of them but they are a feature which has been used in this new world of agentic development workflow.
Worktrees let you have multiple branches checked out at once, sharing the same repository underneath.
In 10 minutes, I’ll show where they came from, the tiny handful of commands you need, and why they’re suddenly useful again in a world of PR reviews, parallel development and coding agents.
