Sustainability work happens across campus, but it is often scattered, undocumented, or undervalued. This lightning talk explores the Climate Change, Sustainability, and Environmental Justice Collection within TUScholarShare, Temple University’s open access institutional repository. The repository supports the needs of the Temple University community around sharing, promoting, and archiving the wide range of scholarly works created in the course of both teaching and research.

As a curated sub-community of Faculty/Research Works, the Climate Change, Sustainability, and Environmental Justice Collection brings together articles, teaching and learning materials, datasets, and other outputs from faculty, student researchers, instructors, and professional staff into a centralized, open access space.

Intentionally inclusive of non-traditional, extra-academic scholarship and practitioner knowledge, the collection elevates the contributions of staff and campus stakeholders who play a critical role in advancing institutional sustainability goals. By capturing best practices, applied work, and diverse forms of knowledge production, the collection helps document progress, not only through the direct provision of baseline data but also through strengthening a shared sustainability culture across disciplines.

Serving as a home for co-curricular learning and student research, the collection transforms individual projects into lasting, discoverable resources. It also supports curricular development by enabling faculty to share teaching materials and resources to integrate sustainability more deeply into coursework. In doing so, the collection facilitates a growing community of practice among educators and practitioners. Additionally, the collection functions as a hub for sustainability-focused faculty and their scholarship, promoting inter- and transdisciplinary collaboration, and another means of faculty training and development.

This session will highlight strategies for growing engagement, increasing participation, and leveraging institutional repositories as tools for understanding impact and building community.
