Session
Why many copilot introductions fail – because the second step is taken before the first
Copilot is here. And suddenly everything is supposed to become smarter, faster, and more productive.
Licenses are booked, pilot projects launched, the first prompts tried out – but the big impact is not there.
Why? Because the second step is being taken before the first.
Many organizations start their Copilot journey on shaky ground:
* Unclear data structures and lack of governance – Copilot can only respond as well as the data is accessible and clean
* No communication strategy – employees don't know what Copilot is for and when it really helps
* Managers who talk about AI but don't actively exemplify it themselves
* IT departments that master the rollout technically, but leave out the necessary cultural change (including within IT)
* Missing roles such as CDO, CTO, and AI champions who build bridges between business, IT, and data strategy
* Organizations that don't want to learn from the successes and mistakes of others – and thus repeat the same stumbling blocks instead of benefiting from experience
The result: brilliant technology meets old habits, unclear processes, and a lack of trust.
The truth is: Copilot is not a tool you switch on – it is a learning process.
It requires structure, communication, and leadership.
Because if the basement is damp, you shouldn't install AI on the first floor.
What this session is about:
* Why many Copilot implementations fail because of people – not technology
* Which cultural and organizational prerequisites are crucial
* How to prepare data, roles, and governance before activating licenses
* Why communication and leadership are the real success factors
* Why it's smart to learn from the experiences of others – instead of repeating the same mistakes
* How (virtual) CDOs and CTOs can also help smaller companies
* Practical examples: From license to impact – how Copilot creates real added value
* Why after the rollout is before the rollout
What you'll take away:
You'll leave with a clear understanding of how to create the conditions for real Copilot success – with clean data, clear communication, and leadership that exemplifies change.
Because Copilot isn't the goal. Copilot is the tool – if the foundation is right.
