Platform engineering teams are often born out of infrastructure and devops teams who have the necessary foundational skills to consolidate and automate engineering processes. However, evidence is showing that organizations are learning the hard way that these teams must evolve to introduce new capabilities as their internal platforms - or understanding of their operational requirements - matures.

These organizations will eventually discover that they can advance each of the aspects of their platform maturity (referencing the CNCF Platform Engineering Maturity Model) by including expertise already available with UI/UX Design and Application Engineering teams in the platform development process.

In this talk, UI/UX Design and Software/Platform Engineering professionals will present learnings from both platform customer and platform developer perspectives to help organizations understand the value of including design from the start, in cloud native platform development.
