AI-assisted storytelling
While AI offers countless opportunities, it also presents enormous challenges. The main concern is how to balance human creativity with technological capacity. The goal of using AI should be to complement, not replace, the vision and intuition of writers and screenwriters.
This guiding thread is linked to a data-driven brainstorming experiment that aims to test the potential of the NotebookLM tool; the experimental “grounded” LLM version of Google Gemini AI. The objective is to bring together elements to compose the project: "An AI that dreams, script for a science fiction novel". The plot is a conjecture of the technical possibilities that would lead to the emergence of artificial consciousness, based on simulations of dreams and sleep in a fictional AI called AIda. It explores the technological and ethical implications for implementing this proposal through quantum algorithms, using the insights into human dreams and sleep from neuroscientist Sidarta Ribeiro present in his book "The Oracle of the Night". Sidarta describes sleep and dreaming as a state of brain "chaos" necessary for the reorganization of information and creativity. Quantum algorithms, with their ability to deal with probabilistic states and exploit the randomness inherent to quantum physics, could be the key to simulating this "chaos" in a controlled way, allowing AIda to process information and generate new ideas during its "digital sleep".
