Trust, but Verify - explAIned
Do you trust your family, friends, and neighbors? What about strangers? How about your coworkers and boss? Your company? How much do you trust elected officials and the government? What about the bridge or elevator you're about to cross or ride? Do you even trust yourself?
What about AI?
Trust is so fundamental to everything that we think, do, and say that few people think much about it. This is extremely risky since trusting too much or too little can have catastrophic consequences. And so, having a better understanding of trust can be beneficial in many ways, helping avoid risk in any context.
In this 2-part talk, I'll start by exploring Trust - what it is and isn't, and when it is sufficient and insufficient. The second half will focus on Verification - advocating a skeptical mindset and offering suggestions to develop critical thinking skills.
Join me as I Explain Trust and Verification and show how these ideas apply to AI, your job, and your life.
NOTE: If you and your audience is not interested in AI, all AI-related elements of this talk can be removed so that the focus is strictly/only on Trust, Risk, Skepticism, and Critical Thinking.
