Green Paths: Making Sustainability the Default with Platform Engineering

Everyone agrees that we need Green IT, yet progress is often stalled. Why? Because we typically treat sustainability as an individual developer's burden. We ask Software Teams to "code greener" while they are already struggling with security, reliability, and feature pressure. Adding one more topic to their cognitive load is a recipe for failure.

A possible solution lies in Platform Engineering combined with an Enabling Team mindset.

In this session, we treat software teams not as subordinates, but as customers of our platform. We will construct a concrete Green Architecture Blueprint that reduces friction and makes the sustainable choice the path of least resistance:
How to abstract complexity and enforce Hardware Efficiency without the developer needing to understand the physics of the data center.
How to architect Carbon Awareness into the scheduler and "Scale to Zero" policies, automating demand shifting so teams don't have to manage it manually.
How to use the IDP to provide "Green Golden Paths" and feedback loops.

Join to learn how to build a platform that empowers your teams to drive toward Net Zero—not by forcing them to become climate scientists, but by paving the road for them.
