Blockchains 101 - Building trust on "Trust No One"

Blockchains are mostly built upon well-known existing technologies such as peer-to-peer networks and digital signatures. But a few new smart ideas like proof-of-work and block rewards set blockchains and their built-in cryptocurrencies fundamentally apart from all similar previous monetary systems.
