Agents, Stop Reliving the Glory Days
When we say party like it’s 2015, we don’t mean our coding agents. Dropdowns, modals, tooltips, form validation: modern HTML and CSS handle all of it now, but your agent is still implementing them with javascript. Half of the fixes shipped after its training data, and the other half it learned wrong. Somewhere in your code, a mouseenter listener is still waiting 500 milliseconds to decide if you meant to hover.
This talk walks through the JavaScript we wrote just a few years ago, and the HTML and CSS that replaced it, from image rollovers to dialog, popover, and anchor positioning. Then we set up Chrome's Modern Web Guidance, so your agent reaches for modern HTML and CSS that your users' browsers support instead. You'll walk out knowing what JavaScript you can stop writing, and so will your agent.
