Session

Best practices for composite models in Big Data environments

In this session I would like to inform you about current experiences with large composite models in the enterprise environment by using Power BI. The overall architecture of a Modern Data Warehouse forms the basis for a successful model here.

You will get to know different apporaches with Azure Synapse or rather Azure Databricks as Direct Query Engines and what the strengths and weaknesses of the resulting systems are. Thereby big data models can be implemented best with the use of the latest Power BI features, such as Composite Model, Aggregations and Calculation Groups.

In particular, you will learn how these features work best together with enterprise requirements such as multi-language, security (OLS and RLS) and high concurrent usage. Finally, I would like to describe you how such a hughe model can be further developed in large teams and operated over the long term.
