Enabling CI/CD for Power BI & Analysis Services with Tabular Editor

Tabular Editor (TE) is an essential tool for Power BI and Analysis Services data model development. Whether you're using the free or commercial version, incorporating TE into your CI/CD pipelines can help ensure the quality and consistency of your data models, both technically and from a business logic perspective.

In this session, you'll learn how to leverage the power of Tabular Editor and CI/CD to streamline and automate your data model development process. You'll discover how to set up pull request and build validation to ensure that changes to your models are thoroughly reviewed and tested before they are deployed. Additionally, you'll learn how to use TE to build and package your development into a deployable artifact, and how to automatically deploy to your Azure Analysis Services or Power BI service environment if you are using a Premium capacity or Premium Per User (PPU).

By the end of this session, you'll have a solid understanding of how to integrate Tabular Editor into your CI/CD pipelines and how to use it to improve the quality, speed, and efficiency of your data model development process. You'll leave with the confidence to set up and use this powerful tool in your own environment and reap the benefits of a streamlined, automated data model development process.

Note: To get the most from this session, attendees should have some experience working with Azure Pipelines for CI/CD, and a basic understanding of Power BI Desktop and the Power BI data model.
