Seeing the Unseen: Observability Powered by OpenTelemetry, challenges & best practices
You can’t improve what you can’t see - and in today’s world of complex, distributed and dynamic systems, traditional monitoring simply isn’t enough. Observability goes beyond dashboards and alerts, giving us the ability to ask new questions about our systems without predefining them. We’ll dive into what observability truly means, why it’s essential for reliability and performance, and how to implement it effectively using telemetry data also explore how OpenTelemetry provides a unified, vendor-neutral framework for collecting, processing, and exporting telemetry data. By standardizing instrumentation and leveraging OpenTelemetry’s ecosystem, teams can uncover hidden issues, reduce MTTR, and transform raw telemetry into actionable insights also enabling deep visibility across microservices. We’ll share our experience on adopting and its challenges that observed on integrating OpenTelemetry into our observability platforms.
