Understanding, Detecting and Reducing Oversharing

Oversharing is a common reality in many Microsoft 365 environments – independent of Copilot. Copilot simply makes it more visible.
In this session, we examine how oversharing actually emerges in practice: through open Teams, shared content, and broken permission structures. Building on this, we cover the relevant Microsoft capabilities to create transparency and systematically detect oversharing – from SharePoint Advanced Management to classification and DLP.
The focus then shifts to sustainable reduction: which organizational measures actually work, and how governance and technical controls can be combined to reduce oversharing without unnecessarily restricting collaboration.
Practical, structured, and consistently focused on the user perspective.
