Anatomy of a Failed Project and the Technical Architecture That Saved It

Short Description:
This is a look at the anatomy of a failed project and the changes we made to save it. Faced with a two year transformation project massively over budget, a frustrated CEO and burnt out suppliers a sea change in technical architecture and bringing the project in-house delivered a win.

Long Description:
When a company embarks on a transformation project a lot of promises are made. What happens when those promises fail to be delivered isn't pretty. After over two years of work the transformation project had stalled, the project director had quit and suppliers had come and gone, leaving a barely working product that with a fraction of the needed functionality.

In order to save the project we brought it in-house and turned the failure into success. We evaluated the technical architecture and replaced key elements to turn it from a monolith to manageable independent services. This talk gives an overview of why the old architecture failed and the key changes that led to success.
