From ClickOps to GitOps: Governing Power Platform in Enterprise Azure Environments

Power Platform enables rapid innovation through low-code development - but at enterprise scale, manual configuration (“ClickOps”) quickly leads to environment sprawl, inconsistent deployments, and governance challenges.

This session explores how to transition from UI-driven management to a GitOps-based operating model for Power Platform and Dynamics 365 within Azure-centric organizations.

Building on Microsoft’s official ALM guidance and GitHub Actions integration, we will examine how to:

- Manage solution source control using unpacked solutions
- Design branch-based promotion strategies across environments
- Implement CI/CD pipelines for repeatable deployments
- Enforce governance through environment strategy and policy controls
- Secure pipelines using managed identities and least-privilege access
- Improve operational visibility with telemetry and auditing

Rather than focusing only on deployment automation, this session introduces architectural patterns for operating Power Platform as production infrastructure - bringing structure, compliance, and engineering discipline to low-code development.

Attendees will leave with a practical blueprint for governing Power Platform at scale while maintaining agility and innovation.
