The Unintended Consequences of Imposter Syndrome

The majority of discussion around imposter syndrome focuses primarily on the individual level. Most articles are a how to guide on how to overcome imposter syndrome.

My research has lead me to form a hypothesis regarding how imposter syndrome can potentially affect the job market and the professional community as a whole by creating a large group of workers who have low self esteem and are not willing to take risks and try new things. This talk takes a look at the possible implications that this could have and how we can help adapt to overcome this potential issue.
