Bytes and Bitters: Insights from hospitality for digital products
What can digital products learn from top hospitality brands? Join Emerson for a journey inside the walls of the world’s finest bars, restaurants, and hotels – what makes them succeed isn’t just their physical allure, but a mastery of principles that are equally relevant to digital products. Whether you’re steering a startup or an enterprise, operating in B2B or B2C, the lessons will resonate. Discover the parallels that blend the best of both worlds, uniting the tangible charm of physical spaces with the dynamic potential of digital platforms. Upgrade the way you build digital products, making them not just functional, but memorably delightful.
This talk will weave together the two worlds of hospitality brands and digital products.
Why hospitality? After all, bars, restaurants and hotels have a different business model than digital products. They have limited scale. The type of talent that works within is vastly different than those that build digital products and will be in the audience.
Why me to give this talk? Because I have built hundreds of digital products for my clients and have one of the top rated cocktail bars in Brooklyn (Philomenas) and top speakeasy clubs in NYC (Sincerely, Ophelias).
But who doesn’t like a beautiful bar, a spectacular hotel or a mind-melting meal?
Hospitality is about experience. It is about community. It is about loyalty. There are many parallels. This talk focuses on five, high-impact principles that can be applied to any team building digital products
For each of the five principles I will share tangible examples from hospitality companies as well as digital products that have excelled in it. This talk is fun and informative with lessons that can be applied to people’s work immediately to drive stickier and more engaging products.
