No Plan, Just Passion: Building a Java Community in the Dominican Republic
The Dominican Republic Java Community (the Dominican JUG) was born from a conversation between two longtime friends who realized there was no local space where Java developers could gather to share knowledge about the Java ecosystem.
They began organizing meetups with no long-term plan; their only goal was to share knowledge with their peers. At the time, they knew of no other JUG leaders in the region, and there was little to no documentation on how to run a JUG.
Thirteen years in, they reflect on their journey running the JUG: the wins, the pitfalls, and what's next.
