While most eBPF applications focus on network topics, eBPF also provides opportunities for profiling to improve performance and gain more insight into systems. This talk provides a short introduction into the eBPF based profiling agent, that got donated to Open Telemetry. It also describes how eBPF elements are used in the context of profiling and how it was and is possible to do stack unwinding for native and interpreted languages even on older Linux kernels and without support of modern eBPF helpers.
