When the Cloud Crashes – Building Systems That Don’t
AWS goes down, half the internet stops. Azure follows, the rest collapses. So, should we ditch the cloud and move everything back on-premises? Absolutely not. Failure doesn’t disappear just because servers are in our charge.
This talk is about what truly matters: understanding the cloud resources we use and designing architectures that survive when things go wrong. Resilience isn’t a feature, it’s a mindset. And no infrastructure — cloud or on-prem — is better than our ability to test, break, and truly understand it.
We’ll explore real outages, resilient cloud architecture principles, chaos engineering, load testing, and why deep infrastructure knowledge is the most underrated superpower in tech today.
To make it real, we’ll deploy a sample application live and put it to the test. Using Azure Chaos Studio and Azure Load Testing, we’ll intentionally break parts of the system to see how well it holds up. Step by step, we’ll analyze failure points, measure resilience, and adapt the infrastructure until it can withstand chaos, not just in theory, but in practice.
