Session
Rethinking Cognitive Accessibility in University Learning Environments
As AI reshapes the digital infrastructure of higher education, we must ask: Who is being left behind? CEPHA is an adaptive, AI-powered learning platform designed to serve students with cognitive and learning disabilities, as well as those often overlooked in mainstream EdTech innovation.
In this session, George Panopoulos, founder of CEPHA, executive leader, and long-time disability inclusion advocate, explores how higher education can use AI not just for efficiency or personalization, but for true inclusion. Drawing on his personal experience growing up with a deaf sibling, professional collaborations with the UN, Red Cross, and TELUS Health, and leadership roles in accessibility-forward innovation, George will showcase how tools like CEPHA can close the gap for neuro- diverse learners.
This talk will explore the intersection of AI, inclusive pedagogy, and student agency, introducing practical frameworks for implementing AI-driven universal design in digital classrooms. George will present live demonstrations, user personas, and early pilot outcomes, making a powerful case for the systemic redesign of higher education’s digital strategies to center around all learners, not just the average ones.
This session is ideal for university leaders, inclusion officers, Ed Tech designers, and anyone working at the intersection of accessibility and digital transformation.
