Industrial data often remains trapped inside PLC and SCADA environments. This session follows the development of FactoryTwin, a proof-of-concept that connects a Siemens PLC to a cloud-native digital twin without replacing the existing control layer. It shows how OPC UA tags are collected and normalized at the edge, delivered to a containerized backend, and transformed into real-time telemetry, alarms, equipment health indicators, and historical trends. Attendees will learn how to separate control from monitoring, structure an OT-to-cloud data pipeline, handle disconnections and unreliable signals, and prepare industrial workloads for Kubernetes-based deployment. The session is intended for cloud-native developers, platform engineers, and automation professionals exploring the convergence of OT and IT.
