Dr. Scott Gerard carved out a distinguished career as a Certified Distinguished Data Scientist specializing in the Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIoT) and as a Fractional Lead Data Scientist. His journey in the technical field spans over four decades at IBM, where he honed his expertise in various technical domains. His leadership skills were showcased by successfully managing teams of up to 50 engineers. His consulting experience is global, having worked with local, national, and international clients across countries like Canada, England, Germany, France, Spain, Japan, Singapore, and Latvia. Among his numerous projects, one near and dear to his heart involved deploying IoT sensors and data analytics to enable the elderly to live independently in their homes for as long as possible and as long as prudent.
Dr. Gerard's demonstrated his technical prowess in his role as the initial technical leader to implement IBM's Watson commercialization in Financial Services. His academic credentials include a PhD in Computer Science, focusing on Multiagent Systems—a subfield of AI. This was preceded by a solid foundation in science, with a Masters of Science in Physics and a Bachelors of Science in both Physics and Mathematics. His extensive education and experience at IBM have made him a respected figure in the field of AI and technology.
Dr. Gerard recently founded a data science consultancy, addressing a wide spectrum of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) challenges. He holds a particular interest in AIoT, reflecting his lifelong passion for integrating multiple "things" to achieve significant objectives, evolving from integrating multiple software components, to multiple autonomous agents, and now, to networks of Internet of Things (IoT) devices. Dr. Gerard's enduring interest in distributed and collaborative systems and his many patents, demonstrate his innovative spirit and his commitment to advancing the field of analytics.
