Did I hear: 100% coverage by automated tests?

With a mindset that goes to faster delivery, all bottlenecks needs to be removed. The teams doent have time to wait for a tester to use days on testing the functionality that developers have made. The solution is then to do automation testing. Is it then possible to remove the tester and only use automation?

I will use Martin Fowler's test pyramid as a starting point to look at what needs to be assessed when automation is introduced.
Then I want to look at if automation really can replace a physical tester. Is testing only about getting a set of tests to go green, or is it about having control over the product quality?
