Design and Developing for Privacy

Every day we are tracked and traced digitally in ways that violate our privacy,. It doesn't have to be this way, and in many ways the front end development community is in the best position to make changes to end these practices. While we might like to blame others, such as product managers who force us to add third party tracking or executives who demand that we collect and monetize as much data as possible, front end development is often the place where it all starts.

In this session, we'll talk about concepts and technical approaches that can be applied to how you build applications and websites that respect privacy. In fact, privacy should be the default. We'll even talk about flipping the conversation about privacy with stakeholders, because if we don't push back things will not change.

You'll walk away with a renewed sense of responsibility and ideas to help empower you to enact change in your organization and with your stakeholders.
