DevOps Lessons from a Galaxy I’ve Never Seen
After 20 years in tech—and leading DevOps transformations across industries—I’ve seen my share of legacy systems, cloud migrations, and incident war rooms. But one thing I’ve never seen? A single Star Wars movie. In this lightning talk, I’ll share what it’s like to operate at a senior level in DevOps while standing outside one of the most omnipresent cultural narratives in tech. We’ll explore how metaphors drawn from Star Wars—while fun—can subtly shape how we think about heroes, tooling, mentorship, and team dynamics. This isn’t a critique of fandom, but a call to broaden the stories we use to lead, teach, and build because great DevOps culture shouldn’t require fluency in sci-fi to belong.
