The Social Life of Data Quality in OSM

OSM data quality evaluations typically focus on measuring the accuracy and usability of the data. But how do contributors with diverse backgrounds, skills, and interests collectively decide what "good quality" data actually looks like?

This session shares a study showing (1) how data quality is shaped by sub-group dynamics, local context, and personal values, and (2) how navigating data quality conventions helps contributors build expertise and belonging within the community.
