With my 30+ years of experience in software programming, I'm asking myself this question a lot: we are craftspeople, but are we creators? auteurs?
I studies movies since middle school.
I now try to draw deeper parallels: envisioning the Truth, creating stories, adding liveness, behavior... mentioning a lot of practices from those two worlds —not just "scripts = requirements".
I refer to Film theory grounding, citing Truffaut, Bresson, Bazin, Metz, Deleuze—bringing film criticism to software.
Software "eats the world" but lacks cinema's cultural legitimacy, but how deep can hold the comparision?
